Marry Shelly's Frankenstein

Hello readers!! I am DIVYA JADAV a student of English Department at MKBU. This blog given by Megha ma'am. Here i will potrait some important questions about the marry Shelly "FRENKENSTEIN".
1. What are some major differences between the movie and the novel ?

"Frankenstein" is a classic novel written by Mary Shelley in 1818, while the 1994 movie you're likely referring to is "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein," directed by Kenneth Branagh. There are several differences between the novel and the film adaptation:

Here i will discuss some points which we find to differentiate in the novel or movie.
1)Framing Device: The novel uses a framing device where the story is presented as letters and narratives within narratives. The 1994 movie simplifies this structure for a more linear storytelling approach.

2)Characterization: The novel provides more depth to the characters, especially Victor Frankenstein and his creature. The movie, while staying true to some aspects, focuses more on their conflict.

3)Creature's Appearance: In the novel, the creature's appearance is described as more grotesque and horrifying compared to the somewhat more sympathetic portrayal in the 1994 film.

4)Romantic Element: The movie emphasizes a romantic subplot involving Victor and Elizabeth, which is less prominent in the
 original novel.

5)Ending: The movie's ending has some differences in the final confrontation between Victor and the creature compared to the novel.

2. who do you think is a real monster?
While we discuss about the  Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein," the question arises in  our mind that who the real monster ? While according to me I recognise that While Victor
Frankenstein creates the physical creature, the novel suggests that Victor himself can be seen as the real monster due to his actions and decisions.

3 .. Do you think the sarech for knowledge is dangerous and destructive?
In Mary Shelley's novel "Frankenstein," the pursuit of knowledge and scientific discovery is portrayed as having potentially dangerous and destructive consequences. Dr. Victor Frankenstein's relentless quest for knowledge and the creation of life through science leads to tragic and catastrophic outcomes. The novel serves as a cautionary tale about the ethical and moral responsibilities that come with scientific and intellectual pursuit.

So, within the context of "Frankenstein," the search for knowledge is indeed depicted as dangerous and destructive when taken to extremes and without ethical consideration. It highlights the importance of responsible and ethical scientific exploration.

4.Do you think victor Frankenstein's creature was inherently evil, or did society's rejection and mistreatment turn him into a monster?

the creature is not inherently evil. he is portrayed as a being born innocent and with the potential for goodness. It is society's rejection and mistreatment that gradually turn him into a "monster." The creature's actions and descent into violence are driven by the profound loneliness, isolation, and suffering he experiences due to the rejection and fear he encounters from humans.

5. Should there be limits on science exploration ? If so what should those limits be?

Yes, there should be limits on scientific exploration, primarily in the context ofcreating life or tampering with the natural order.

The novel does not explicitly prescribe specific limits but raises questions about the responsibilities of scientists and the potential consequences of their actions. Dr. Victor Frankenstein's reckless pursuit of creating life without considering the ethical implications and the well-being of his creation leads to tragic outcomes.
